Senior students attend classes part of the day and are employed in an office part time working a minimum of 15 hours a week. Through classroom instruction and on-the-job training, the student will:

Students learn everyday business practices for personal or business use by participating in active simulations. They will experience handling a checking account, applying for credit, buying insurance, finding and applying for a job, computer technology, understanding investments, communication skills, understanding the variety of ways businesses are organized, and developing consumer skills. Introduction to Business enables students to participate in realistic business world activities and to develop personal financial skills. Recommended as an introductory course for the Business Program.
Students learn basic keyboarding skills using the touch typing method. Keyboarding I is a fast-paced, one-semester course designed to satisfy the requirements of other curricular areas that demand keyboarding skills for classroom assignments. Students will learn to type:
• personal and business letters
• resumes
• employment documents
• reports
It is highly recommended for incoming freshmen who have completed junior high keyboarding, as well as the beginning keyboarding student. It is also recommended for those college-bound students lacking word processing skills.
This is a challenging class that explores interesting career opportunities. Marketing involves determining customer needs and deciding how best to satisfy those needs. This is a class for those interested in: selling, pricing, distribution, advertising, computer technology, owning your own business, business management, employability skills, and market research. Marketing prepares the students for retail careers and the senior internship program.
Prerequisite : Student must be enrolled in Advanced Merchandising Field.
Students must qualify for part-time employment and work a minimum of 15 hours a week in a marketing or distributing business. In both the classroom and the business, the students receive training in such vocational areas as selling, merchandise information, duties related to preparing merchandise for sale, and management concepts.
Prerequisite : Student must be enrolled in Advanced Marketing (DECA).
Business Computer Applications is not a prerequisite for this course.
