This course is designed to provide students with physical fitness awareness and skills as well as offer a variety of activities for the first year physical education student. Physical fitness instruction will be provided and measured using a selection of fitness tests. Skill instruction is given in the basic fundamentals of team sports and rhythms. Fitness activities and co-educational units are included in the course.
Prerequisite : Physical Education 1-2
This course may be taken either semester but a full year will allow participation in a larger variety of activities. During the sophomore year a greater emphasis is placed on coordination and refinement of the basic over-view of skills and fitness given during Physical Education 1-2. Additional activities may include: Archery, Fencing, Field Hockey, Golf, Gymnastics and Racquetball. Most activities are co-educational and throughout the year students select those activities in which they wish to participate.

This course requires a doctor's written recommendation for the student to enroll. The course is designed to provide students who cannot participate in the regular physical education program, due to medical reasons, an opportunity to enjoy physical education. It will meet the specific needs of each student. This course may be repeated for credit.
Students will be introduced to a variety of dance forms, which may include jazz, modern, ballet, lyrical, musical theatre, tap, and ethnic. Classes will participate daily in fitness and conditioning exercises, floor combinations, and dance routines, which will develop balance, strength, flexibility, coordination, agility, line and body control, rhythmical accuracy and versatility. Students will receive instruction in composition, improvisation, production, history and performance. Students will develop an appreciation of dance through participation, observation, and self-evaluation. This course may be repeated for credit.

Note : Enrollment of sophomores on a space available basis as determined by local administration.
This course is designed to give the student an opportunity to develop their body systems into peak physical condition and appearance and to have the student understand how to maintain this level throughout life. Each student will develop an individualized program as the principles of conditioning and training are learned. Emphasis will be placed on increasing the muscular structure, running for stamina, physical training and weight controls. Classroom lectures and written tests on the body systems are included in the course. This course may be repeated for credit.
