Glendale Justice Teen Court

Club Description

This club is associated with the Maricopa County Juvenile Justice System and is part of the Diversion Program. This is a program where the defendant (who has already admitted guilt) and the defendant's parent have agreed to have the sentence determined by Teen Court members. Club members meet once a month to hear cases at the Glendale Justice Court and are charged with questioning the defendant in order to determine what type of sentence to impose. Some of the sentences that have been imposed include community service hours, letters of apology to victims, and paying restitution.

Students interested in joining Teen Court must commit 6 hours of training prior to acting as an attorney. Additionally, students must have parental permission and recommendations from 2 teachers.
