Teacher Recipient: Tracey Holberg
Tracey Holberg has spent more than a decade shaping students’ academic and artistic growth at Washington High School, a place where she first discovered her love for learning and community. As a Washington High School graduate, Tracey returned after earning a bachelor’s degree in secondary education with an emphasis in mathematics from Arizona State University and a master’s in mathematics education from Northern Arizona University. Though her early career focused on mathematics and science, Tracey’s enduring passion for dance led her to transition into full-time dance instruction, where she has combined her analytical skills with creativity to help students grow both technically and personally.
Tracey’s dedication extends far beyond the classroom. She has led the Pom program as head coach, guided varsity cheer, supported freshman and sophomore softball, and sponsored the Korean Club since 2014. In addition, she contributes to school-wide initiatives, including Link Crew and the Washington High School Staff Organization, where she helps plan student and staff events. Tracey is also an active member of the Wight Noise Dance Company, serving as an assistant director and winning the 2022 Choreography award, plus she participates in statewide and national professional organizations, bringing her experience and passion for dance into her teaching.
Central to Tracey’s teaching philosophy is her commitment to helping students discover confidence, creativity, and resilience. In mathematics and science, she breaks down complex concepts so every student can understand and succeed. In dance, she creates a supportive environment where students can experiment, make mistakes, and grow. Her mentorship encourages students to take risks, celebrate progress, and carry the lessons they learn in her classroom into all areas of life. Through her expertise, leadership, and genuine care, Tracey Holberg has left an indelible mark on Washington High School, inspiring generations of students while exemplifying the spirit and pride of a Ram.
