Class Procedures

Materials: Each student will need the following materials for class:

  • A spiral notebook for math only
  • Pencils with erasers

Attendance/tardies: Students are expected to attend class daily. Learning math is cumulative. It is the responsibility of the student to come in outside of class to make-up missing assignments, quizzes, and exams. The WHS policies on attendance and tardies will be enforced.

Students will be considered tardy if they are not in their seats ready to begin class when the tardy bell rings. Students that are tardy will be assigned 10 minutes of detention to be served that afternoon or the next morning.

Unit Tests: each of the units is divided into outcomes. Students are expected to master each of the outcomes for the course. The first test will be given in class. Students must have all unit assignments completed prior to testing. If a student fails to complete all assignments before the test he/she will working on the missing assignments during test time. Students that fail any outcome will be required to retake that outcome by attending the 8th hour specified for that outcome. The test may be retaken any day before or after school provided the student has come in for remediation. Students with a grade below 70% will be required to attend 8th hour for any missed outcomes. Failure is not an option!

Quizzes/Bell work: Quizzes will be given on each outcome. These will be given at the beginning of class and will cover the material from previous lessons. Students will be allowed 10 minutes of class time to complete their quiz. On “non-quiz” days, there will be a bell work assignment for students to complete. Failure is not an option!

Assignments/Homework: Each assignment will be due at the beginning of the class period the day after it was assigned. Students will place it on their desk at the beginning of the period. It will be checked for completion while the student is working on the quiz/bell work. Students that do not have assignments completed by the due date will attend 8th hour to complete the assignment. Failure is not an option!

CRT: All students will be required to take the district’s Criterion reference Test (CRT) or final exam at the end of each semester to receive credit. This test will account for 20% of the students’ grade. Failure to take the CRT will result in an incomplete. Failure is not an option!
