College and Career Choices
College and Career logoWashington High School provides a wide variety of electives along with multiple levels of core academic classes for all of our students to be successful and prepared for their life choices after graduation. Our counseling department has been working with our students and their guardians to assure that they are in the appropriate level of classes and are able to explore a multitude of potential careers.

Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors received their course request forms this week that outline their current selections for next year. These forms need to be signed and returned to the school by March 1, 2019. Students and their guardians may make changes to the course selections by using the drop/add section at the bottom of the form.

Due to some classes having limited availability, students may not always receive their first choice of electives. The students have a list of alternate courses that they have selected in order of their preference.

Making these elective choices can be a daunting task. Our counselors are available to assist students in making these plans. To that end, they have designed an extensive list of career pathways that are aligned with courses that are offered here at WHS. This form is available in the counseling office and the college and career office.

Juniors and seniors have a unique opportunity to explore career choices on Wednesday, February 20, 2019. The annual “Career Fair” will give students an opportunity to hear about 3 different careers directly from professionals in those careers. This event will take place during the morning classes, and students will finish the day with their regular afternoon classes.
