Preparing for 2019-20 at WHS
We would like to welcome all new students to Washington High School for the 2019-20 school year. All freshmen are required to take the math and English placement exams. The office will open on July 15th to register new students. There is a mandatory freshmen parent meeting on July 18th at 6:00 p.m. Current students who will be returning to WHS next year will need to attend walk-through registration in the practice gym on July 23, 24 or 25. Important Dates and Information for the End of the School Year
There will not be any more “Late-Start” Wednesdays for the rest of the school year. 1st hour will start promptly at 8:00 a.m. every school day. Seniors will have a full day of school on May 16, with final exams for periods 4/5, 6 and 7; and a half day on May 17, with final exams for periods 1, 2, and 3. Seniors have a mandatory graduation meeting right after their last final exam, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., and they must leave campus following the meeting unless they have administrative permission to be on campus in the afternoon. All other students will have a regular school schedule through May 20, 2019. Their final exams will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 21-22, and will be released at noon on both days. Students with a zero hour class will take their final exam at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21. The WHS graduation ceremony will be May 21, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. Graduation will be held at Grand Canyon University Arena, 3300 West Camelback Road. Parking will be tight, and traffic will be heavy. Please leave plenty of time to get to the facility. Graduates need to arrive by 7:00 p.m. Doors open for guests at 7:15 and close at 8:00 p.m. Because of limited seating, you must have a ticket to attend graduation. WHS DECA Students Recognized at International Conference
The Ram Shack, operated at Washington High School was among 483 school-based enterprises in the United States achieving Gold Level Re-certification this year and will be recognized at DECA’s International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Orlando, FL. The students who worked on the certification were Fabiola Ramirez and Alfredo Garcia with the assistance of their adviser, Tim Mayfield. The school-based enterprise at Washington High School has operated for 11 years.  READ MORE...

Law Enforcement students attempt to rescue a "dummy" over challenging obstacles.
Law Enforcement Student Activity
Students in the Law Enforcement classes participated in a leadership reaction event today. They had to use team work and excellent communication skills to climb over obstacles, save an injured person (dummy), and climb back over the obstacles with their dummy as an entire team.   READ MORE...
