Some STUGO students volunteer to clean up campus

The WHS Student Government (STUGO) class is working to build on the positive community that we call “Ramily.” The students are led by teachers, Braden Sparks and Ariana Russell. The STUGO and class officers have many plans to make this year the best yet.

Senior Sunrise was held on the football field Saturday (8/28). There will be a tailgate for the first home volleyball game (8/31) from 4 - 5:30. The varsity game will start at 6pm. A group of STUGO officers came in on Saturday (8/21) to help clean up and beautify the campus.

The mission statement of STUGO is: To represent, lead, and create unity through school spirit.

Here are some of the goals that STUGO has for this year:

  •  Be the lifeblood of the school. Connect all the clubs, sports, and classes together.
  • Promote everyone and everything WHS
  • Attend community events (Washington Park Community) like the monthly meetings or service projects.
  • Attend 1 school board meeting and 1 city council meeting.
  • Complete 25 hours of community service (each member)
  • Hold weekly meetings using parliamentary procedure to discuss and vote on events, issues, and ideas. Student leadership. Students run the class, they plan the events. They make it all happen. The Advisors’ role is guidance and to veto ideas when necessary.
  • Break events up into committees, headed by a Chair, co-chair, and members. In order to distribute leadership and the workload.

After a year of uncertainty, STUGO has big plans for the future. STUGO will strive to be the heartbeat of WHS.
